Read through and meditate on Daniel 9:3-19.

1. Urgency - “Seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting.” Daniel has an urgency on seeking the Lord on behalf of his people. Let’s pray for understanding of the times we are living in, so that we may have urgency in seeking the Lord on behalf of our people. Let’s also pray for mercy for all the countries being gravely affected and also over our city.
2. Posture - “Sackcloth and ashes.” Daniel is in intense mourning and grief over his people. Let’s pray that we would awaken to deeply care about what our people are going through.
3. Confession - “…we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules.” Daniel confesses on behalf of his people. Confess and acknowledge the wrong on behalf of our people and for strength to turn to the Lord.
4. Reliance - “To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness…”. Daniel calls out to the Lord who is righteous, merciful, and forgiving. Take time to recognize the Lord in his attributes and let us rely upon his great mercy to prevail.
